IT’S A FINE LINE

Years ago
i helped a friend
clean out
an old grocery store
that he bought
as a commercial investment.

He graciously
called all of his friends
and told them to come down
to the store
and get anything
they wanted.

Well,
Me,
being Mr. Practical,
got only
a real-red-rubberized
THE MEAT PEOPLE
grocery cart.

I thought
that I would be
a step ahead
of the game
in case
I ever became
homeless.

I will have
the fanciest-est
grocery cart
of anyone
on Ponce,
and I’ve already got
a nice red outfit
in there
to match
THAT day.

IT’S A FINE LINE
between having something
and having nothing.

Giving up is not an option.

Fear and Desperation
is the breeding ground
for the slippery slope
downhill.

Another acquaintance
slash Sister Louisa Art Collector
started off our relationship
in a normal fashion.

He was gung-ho
about my art,
and me about
his writing.

Somewhere along the way,
things changed
and the slope
became a slippery
decline.

He commenced to
attacking
the very ones
he was inspired by.

Whatever the reason,
fear and desperation
set in,
and everything changed.

IT’S A FINE LINE.

I’ve trained myself
to wake up
every single day
and start over
from ground zero.

THIS doesn’t mean
give up my dreams,
or sit around
and do nothing,
it means
that I get up
with no expectations,
confront the reality
that faces me,
and start from that point
and make my life count
from that moment on.

Letting Go of Yesterday,
Living Today,
and Not Worrying
About Tomorrow.

Otherwise,
IT’S A FINE LINE
between
Hope and Hopelessness,
Going Forward and Giving Up,
and
Sanity and Insanity.

Don’t get too close to the edge, you may get sucked off.
