FIRST NIGHT AT CHURCH

CHURCH is a bar, not a house of worship. The pews are bar stools, the stained glass is mostly attitude, and the sermon is whatever Grant Henry (Sister Louisa) felt like painting that week. If this is your first night, here is what actually matters before you walk in.

Athens is at 254 W Clayton St. Hours are Mon through Sat, 5pm to 2am. The Athens location is closed on Sunday. Call (706) 850-3668 for Athens.

Full staff bios and the story of Sister Louisa live on the CHURCH page. The sidebar on every page repeats hours and phones if you are already on site.

What should I wear?

Come as you are. Edgewood and downtown Athens are walkable neighborhoods, so you will see everything from date-night outfits to whatever someone wore to the gallery next door. Comfortable shoes help if you plan to play ping pong.

Do I need a reservation?

Walk-ins are the norm. Large groups or private events should start with ConTaCt so the staff can tell you what is possible that night.

What happens on a typical week?

Wednesday is CHURCH Organ Karaoke in Atlanta. Check the CHURCH Calendar for the full list of recurring nights, seasonal shows, and one-off events. The homepage slider also calls out the 2nd Sunday Service with Vicki Powell when that series is running.

Ping pong, art, and photos

Ping pong tables are part of the name for a reason. Ask staff how rotations work if a game is already going. Sister Louisa's paintings and prints are listed on SiSteR LoUiSa ArT. For pictures from the room, browse Perty Pictures or CHURCH Videos.

A few house reminders

CHURCH uses religious imagery as art and satire. If that topic is a sore spot for you or your group, read the room before you bring a lecture to the bar. Tip your bartender. Do not touch the art unless you are buying it. Have a designated driver or rideshare plan: both locations serve alcohol late.
